Northwest Poultry Gathering

Hosted on Gitxsan Territory by SWCC on February 18, 2023, with the Canadian Agricultural Partnership. The event brought together poultry producers, suppliers such as the Smithers Feed Store, processors, farm school participants, the regional agronomist, & community members alike. Presentations were offered by: Sik-E-Dakh’s Farm School program, who partnered with SWCC in 2022 to integrate chickens into their farm operations; Snoetic Farm – a mixed agriculture operation on Highway 16 near New Hazelton; and from our regional slaughter facility, Bulkley Valley Custom Slaughter in Telkwa.

In late 2022 some SWCC staff supported food security by learning how to butcher locally-raised pigs!
