The Invisible Migration Hazelton

Date and time: Tue, May 29, 2018 - 2:36 pm
City/Town: Hazelton
Venue: 'Ksan Campground
Description:

It's back for another season! The much-anticipated Hazelton event: The Invisible Migration, held at 'Ksan Campground on Tuesday, May 29th, 2018. The community comes together to celebrate the millions of baby salmon (smolts) that are migrating to the coast right now! Each spring, over 300 million baby salmon make their way to the coast, to the estuary at Lelu Island, hidden from view beneath the swirling coffee-coloured river currents, thus... the "invisible" migration!

Help us make this year's event the best one yet! Bring your families and enjoy performances by the 'Ksan Dancers, free BBQ burgers, refreshments and homemade cake (did we mention cake!? It's to die-for-delicious!), witness the Ceremonial Blessing, have crazy fun with the Archery Tag (shoot your friends!) and learn more about these amazing smolts and the complete life-cycle of our wild Skeena Salmon. The Youth-On-Water (YOW) crew will be on hand to share raft safety demonstrations. And, after the event, as the sun begins to set, we all head down to the point (the confluence of the Bulkley and Skeena Rivers) and release candlelit lanterns, floating on the current, complete with local messages, handwritten by you!

See you there!
