Misty Rivers Art Gallery
With winter here at last, and the water now too cold to follow in Ali’s brave footsteps, SWCC is turning to the indoors for awareness raising events. Misty River Gallery, also SWCC headquarters, will showcase a new exhibit. Spirit of the River, opened on December 15, 2009 to coincide with the annual Christmas in Hazelton event and will remain open for your viewing pleasure until February 28th, 2010. Don’t miss the Valentine’s Day wine and cheese with live music inside the Gallery.
From Perry Rath’s incredible work with paint and ash to Arlene Ness’ stained glass – The exhibit is building on the concept of “Fish Nation;” one nation joined through our reliance on, and connection to, our rivers and the salmon that call them home. The threat of this resource has faded borders and given us a sense of solidarity in a common cause. The variety of talented and diverse artists in the Skeena Watershed offers a powerful voice to this cause.
The exhibit features artists from many backgrounds working in a diversity of mediums. Set to run from December 15, 2009 – February of 2010 the exhibit is just one of the many ways SWCC is raising awareness and providing entertainment this season. Come out to support our local artists, Misty River Gallery and SWCC and find appreciation for our rivers through the eyes of the artists.
