Honouring the Elders Ceremony & Music Festival
Date and time: Fri, August 06, 2010 - 3:00 pm
City/Town: Iskut, BC
Venue: Eagle River Fairgrounds
Description:
In 2005 – several nations came together for a ‘mixing of the waters’ ceremony to pledge allegiance towards the safe-guarding of the birthplace of our 3 rivers – the Nass, Stikine and Skeena. These 3 great rivers are all born in Tahltan territory in the Klappan Valley, known as the Sacred Headwaters.
So once again, members of the Iskut community have invited everyone to be a part of another incredible event to honour and recognize the 15 elders that were arrested for blockading the road to the Sacred Headwaters and the very people that have prevented Royal Dutch Shell from drilling for coalbed methane among other industrial developments that would pollute our wild salmon rivers. It’s happening next weekend and will be a TON of fun not to mention powerful. The SWCC crew will be there and we hope to see you there too!
Skeena Swimmer, Ali Howard will be in attendance.
