Will coalbed methane development become an issue in the federal election in Skeena-Bulkley Valley?

It depends on whether the other candidates take up a challenge from New Democrat incumbent Nathan Cullen.

Cullen is calling on all five candidates in the riding to come out against Shell’s proposed coalbed methane drilling in the so-called Sacred Headwaters.

The five will obviously disagree on many issues in the campaign, but Cullen says it’s his sincere hope all candidates can stand together on this important issue.

Cullen was among more than 150 people who gathered in New Aiyansh on Wednesday for a forum on coalbed methane development, sponsored by the Nisga’a.
