Skeena Energy Solutions

Focused on the Solutions!

What if we could turn the plastic in our garbage dumps into diesel for pennies a liter? It’s already happening nearby. How about revamping our struggling lumber mills into cost efficient facilities that produce lumber, heat, and renewable fuels? Skeena Energy Solutions is a grass-roots initiative aimed at supporting alternative ways to heat, fuel and provide electricity to our region in a way that will sustain northern cultures, build local economies, and protect the watersheds we all depend on.

SES was launched in 2013 as a result of several proposals for gas and oil pipelines that would put our wild salmon economy and healthy watersheds at risk. So rather than just opposing bad development, SWCC decided to propose good development.

We are the people who live here and as such, we are left with the consequences, both negative and positive, of development. We believe the people who live here should be the decision makers. Skeena Energy Solutions is an initiative aimed at educating and employing people with the many options of energy production and conservation in our region, and empowering communities to be their own shareholders of their energy future.

In 2015 we plan to do a feasibility study on Biomass heating and a plastic-to-oil machine to find out if they are a good fit for our communities up here. The one that proves most viable will be the one we move forward with.
