Protest organizers say over 300 protesters were on hand in Terrace Tuesday night as Shell representatives tried to present their arguments for coalbed methane drilling in the Klappan.
The area has been dubbed the “Sacred Headwaters” of the Skeena, Nass and Stikine Rivers. Shell says it’s committed to drilling in an environmentally responsible way, but the protesters fear irrevocable damage to salmon stocks in the rivers.
Shell has more open houses coming up—reps will be at the Elks Lodge in Smithers Thursday and Friday—and in Stewart next Monday and Tuesday, at the Allan Lawrence Memorial Arena.
