Stories of solidarity between unusual allies in the struggle to safeguard northwest BC's watersheds with a special performance by Rachelle Van Zanten.
The Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition (SWCC) will share stories of the ups and downs of grassroots activism in their neck of the woods, The Sacred Headwaters and Northern BC. The SWCC has been successful in helping to halt big industry from encroaching on the Sacred Headwaters, and is currently fighting to stop proposed liquefied natural gas lines from crossing through their community. The SWCC has worked with First Nations, Government and their local community to raise awareness about the issues facing the wild and pristine place they call home. Rachelle Van Zanten is Canada's #1 female slide guitarist that has lent her voice to help raise awareness about the region and the battles they’re waging. This evening is intended to inspire our community about local activism, solutions, and help to re-energize our many hard-working local activists to continue their efforts to inspire and implement positive change.
