WHERE HOPE RESIDES: “...will the larger battle of conservation and preservation… lose out to big business and modernization? If it’s people or fish, people historically win out. Or, will these groups find interesting and dynamic ways to solve their differences and make the Skeena Drainage a global symbol of people finally recognizing the value of pristine wilderness and the importance of preservation?”
Jahtrout Production – 2009
CHASING SHADOWS: “...It was one of the longest and most famous manhunts in the history of Canada, and yet even today, a hundred years later, the real story of Simon Peter Gunanoot is shrouded in mystery. Accused of murdering two men in 1906, in the Hazelton region of northwestern BC, Gunanoot vanished with his family of eight into a wilderness one quarter the size of the province. “
Out Yonder Productions – 2001
CALL FROM A COAST: “...[With the prospect of] salmon farming to one of the world’s last strongholds of wild salmon, the fishing culture of the north coast revolts. Guided by entertaining and informative interview with local first nations, fish farm workers, fishermen and politicians and biologists, this 32-minute documentary takes a deep dive into the local fish politics and biology & culture of the coast.”
Produced by Twyla Roscovich – 2006
SKEENAWILD REEL YOUTH FILM CAMP: From the 15 youth that attended the camp, 3 unique, issue based films were created: Our Land, Our River, Our People; Leaky Dream and Carbon Food Print. Through the creation of the films, the youth participants were taught how to write, shoot, produce and edit their own films. The Reel Youth instructors shared their knowledge on film equipment set-up and use; the development and organization of film ideas along with how to execute the film shooting and editing. The youth were empowered throughout the entire film making process, taking the lead in the development of own their ideas and story lines. The films produced at this camp reflect the growth in leadership, communication and education experienced by all who participated.
